I Think Life is about Tough decisions

Change is the only constant thing in life.

As cliché as that may sound, it is true. However, the effects of change are either far more devastating or comforting. As they say, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison.

Change will always cause a reaction. To some people, it will be a good thing and for others, it’s not just what they need. Change affects all of us differently. Even when it’s positive for people, some people end up benefiting more from a change than others.

There are changes that are beyond our control like natural disasters or the weather… you know stuff like that. However, I intend to focus on the changes that are caused by us… Me and you. Everyday, we are faced with making decisions as part of daily activities. But, once in a while we are faced with difficulties that cause us to make decisions that have the potential to hurt some of the people we love and care about. As if making these decisions are not hard enough, we also face the issue of being misunderstood by other people who really have no business with the decision made. The scenario then becomes one that everyone involved becomes sad or hurt. You are sad about the decision you “had” to make that has probably hurt someone you love. The people affected are hurt by your decision and some people who have no business with the entire process fill the need to carry on the pain meant for someone else to endure and hate you in the process. It is not always this complicated… sometimes it is more complicated. But someone gets burnt by your decisions. Then you become miserable because you are afraid of the outcome if you had not made such a decision.

I don’t mean to confuse anyone on this interesting Friday. All I am trying to say is… you can NEVER please everyone with your decisions. People will always believe what they decide to believe. As humans, we all see things differently, it’s called Paradigms. Perceptions. Point of view. Whatever you decide to call it, life will only make sense based on how you see and respond to it. If you are sure about the decision you are making in life… you owe no one an apology. Move on. If it is a mistake, learn from it. Simple!

Treat people with respect. Show love, don’t just profess it. Most importantly, FIND YOURSELF. This is the greatest thing that will ever happen to anyone. Whether you are male, female or alien or you are black, white or Michael Jackson. Therefore, let your decisions be tailored towards self actualisation.
The most important thing to note today is this and quote me…

“No one person is an island, and because of this, you will never find as much happiness in life unless your actions are tailored towards the happiness of someone else”

Yes, I, Mfon Godwin Tom said it. Think about it, we do not live for ourselves. Something, someone somewhere keeps us alive, help us believe we can do it, remind us that we NEED to make it, push us to the limits, encourages us, makes us HAPPY.

If you are faced with a difficult decision, take a deep breath and think about the people that will be affected. Will it affect them positively? If it hurts them, is it necessary or worth it. Remember, you are responsible for your actions!

Humans are made to co-exist and life is about tough decisions… if you are not making any tough decisions you are not living… you merely exist.

Cheers,

I think...
